About MediaWarp Profiles

The MediaWarp profile is our proprietary transcoder you can use for IMF transcoding in the cloud. You can set up the MediaWarp profile to transcode the content as it is ingested.

Configuring MediaWarp Profiles

To create a MediaWarp profile:

  1. Open the Profiles menu and select MediaWarp. The MediaWarp Profiles page is displayed.

  2. Click New MediaWarp profile. The Create new MediaWarp profile page is displayed.

  3. Enter a name for your profile.

  4. On the Output properties tab, set up the properties used for demultiplexing media items.

    • Select the Frame Rate. Note that the value must match the exact frame rate of the movie for which the profile is created.

    • Select the Pixel Format from the available values: YUV or RGB. The pixel format is used to demultiplex image sequences.

      Note

      When selecting the YUV pixel format, the Chroma Subsampling field becomes editable.

    • Select the Bit Depth from the available values: 8, 10, 12 or 16. The bit depth is used to demultiplex image sequences.

    • Select the Profile Type:

      • JPEG2000BroadcastContributionSingleTile - JPEG 2000 Bitstream with a Broadcast Contribution Single Tile

      • JPEG2000BroadcastContributionMultiTileReversible - JPEG 2000 Bitstream with a Broadcast Contribution Reversible Multi Tile

      • J2K_2KIMF_SingleTileLossyProfile - 2K IMF Single Tile lossy profile

      • J2K_2KIMF_SingleMultiTileReversibleProfile - 2K IMF Single or Multi Tile reversible lossy profile

      • J2K_4KIMF_SingleTileLossyProfile - 2K IMF Single Tile lossy profile

      • J2K_4KIMF_SingleMultiTileReversibleProfile - 2K IMF Single or Multi Tile reversible lossy profile

        When selecting any of the Single and Multi Tile profiles, the Custom codec settings section is displayed, and the Mainlevel field becomes editable. For more information about codec settings, see Custom Codec Settings.

        The Sublevel field can only be set for IMF Single Tile and IMF Single Multi Tile profiles.

      • 422HQ - Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)

      • 422 - 4:2:2 profile

      • 422LT - Apple ProRes 422 LT

      • 422PROXY - Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy)

      • 4444 - Apple ProRes 4444

      • 4444XQ - Apple ProRes 4444XQ

      • Copy - This will keep the original properties of the demultiplexed video

    • Enable the Timecode follow source option for a drop frame movie to make sure the demultiplexed video keeps the DF (drop frame) property. If not enabled, it will be converted to NDF (non-drop frame).

    • Set the Time Code. For example, if your movie starts from 01:00:00:00 and you set this at 00:00:00:00, your demultiplexed video will start at 00:00:00:00.

    Optional:

    If you want to find out the properties required for your profile, you can use the previewing section to upload a file as a guide/reference:

    1. Under Previewing:, click Select Media Item. The Create new MediaWarp Profiles menu

    4. Click Media details to expand the details section. The expanded media details of the previewed file

    6. Navigate to the MediaInfo tab to access the details about the Frame Rate, Pixel Format, Bit Depth, Profile Type and other info. The Mediainfo tab of the previewed file
      Note

      If you want to select a different video file as a reference, you can remove it by clicking Remove video preview or Select video preview and replacing the existing one.

  1. On the Track tab, under the Slate section, you can define the way the metadata text about the video file is displayed. Under the Track formatting section, click + for both video and audio, depending on how many elements (slates, bars, blacks) you want to add for the head or tail of the demuxed file.

  1. On the CPL tab, you can map title metadata fields and markers into specific metadata and IMF markers for CPLs. The CPL tab
  • Under the Map metadata fields section, select the metadata fields you want to map to the CPL fields:
    1. Enable the Generate composition playlist option. The enabled Generate composition playlist
    2. Click Add new mapping. The Add new mapping button
    3. Select the CPL field you want to map from the drop-down. The Select a CPL field to map field
    4. Enter the Metadata mapping string. You can manually insert the metadata string or have it automatically generated by clicking Generate the metadata string for mapping.     5. Click GENERATE STRING on the metadata field you want to map. A pop-up is displayed where you can select the language for your metadata field. The Summary short popup
    6. Select the language. Make sure you select the correct language code for the metadata field. The Insert string option
    7. Click Insert string. The string is inserted.
  • Under the Map markers section, select the IMF markers you want to map:
    1. Click Add new mapping. The Add new mapping button for markers

      Important

      All First Frame markers must be mapped to In media item markers. All Last Frame markers must be mapped to Out media item markers.

  • Under the Ad break mapping section, you can map ad break markers to to FPCI (Fixed Point Candidate Insertion) markers by enabling the Map ad breaks to FPCI markers toggle. The Ad break mapping section
  1. Click Save. Your profile has been created and is displayed in the MediaWarp profiles list.

The profile can now be used in MediaWarp, accessible from the Workbench tab of a video media item.

Advanced profiles

You can configure and fine tune or add individual custom tracks with specific settings that can override the default settings displayed in the Media Warp page using the advanced profile.

To configure audio and video tracks:

  1. Enable the Advanced profile toggle.When enabled, an output actions drop-down icon is displayed next to the available tabs. The Advanced profile toggle The drop-down options allow you to add custom tracks, or use a media item shown inside the profile to autofill the tracks and all the specific options you have in terms of color properties, channel mapping, MCA labels and metadata tracks.
  2. Click on the displayed icon and select Autofill to automatically populate the audio and video metadata based on the probe results details. The Autofill option

    Important

    After the autofill process, operators must verify that the video metadata was correctly filled in by the system. They should also check if the audio is mapped correctly by previewing the file and ensure that the MCA labels metadata is completed accurately.

Audio channel mapping with tags

You can map the audio channel using tags:

  1. Navigate to the Audio tab of your MediaWarp profile. The Audio tab
  2. Select the Audio output type.
  3. Under Channel Mapping, select the tags you want to use.
    Note

    When selecting Implicit, the channel will use the track and the channel of the source file where the Media Warp profile will be applied.

  4. Select the Track and Channel number.
    Note

    For video files with multiple audio tracks, you can add and configure as many audio tracks as you need. To add another audio track, click the output options drop-down and select Audio.

For channel mapping you can also use a specific tag instead of Implicit and use the audio from an external file (.wav, .mov, .mxf and others).
