Metadata is information about a specific title, media item or virtual asset, such as name, year, cast, description, etc.
The Metadata Service allows you to define metadata attributes, populate them and output certain values in different formats for a faster, better delivery experience to different streaming platforms. Metadata values are organized into various metadata sets.
There are three levels of metadata, each available in a separate sub-menu of the Metadata Service:
Title-level metadata can be organized into hierarchies, which allows you to establish a parent-child relationship between titles. On each layer of the hierarchy, you can establish metadata attributes and fields.
Note: Hierarchies are not mandatory, you don’t need to establish a hierarchy for standalone content such as movies. For more information about hierarchies, see Creating a Hierarchy.
