Hierarchies are structured guidelines that describe how various metadata entities are linked together. Using the Hierarchies tab, you can structure your titles and organize your metadata.
A hierarchy is constructed of a single or multiple entity types. The entity types can be connected to each other inheriting metadata from other titles.
To create a hierarchy, perform the following steps:
Open the Metadata Settings menu.
Click Add new hierarchy. The Create Hierarchy Structure window is displayed, where you can define a structure of parent-child relationships between the entity nodes.
Click Add Entity Type. The Add Entity Type window is displayed.
Choose between:
Click Add. The entity is added and displayed on the Create Hierarchy Structure window.
To add a child entity, click the plus sign on the entity and perform steps 3 and 4.
Click Next Step. The Define Fields window is displayed, where you can set up or edit the metadata attributes of each entity in the hierarchy structure.
Click Next Entity Type to edit every entity in the hierarchy structure. The following entity is displayed, with its defined fields.
Click Finish. The hierarchy structure is created and displayed on the Hierarchies tab.
To use the created hierarchy, you must also set the Parent Type of the child title on the Metadata Sets tab in the Titles menu.
