About Ignition

The Ignition feature allows you to build and manage custom media workflows and processes. It offers the flexibility to design your own workflow using a YAML file you define yourself. As of Release 2024.6 Nickel, Ignition can be enabled to manage and modify the ingest process.

The Ignition feature consists of:

  • The Workflow Manager, which allows organization administrators to create, edit, import, and export Ignition workflow definitions. For more information, see About the Workflow Manager.
  • The Workflow Monitor, which allows users to analyze the status of Ignition workflows run in the organization. It provides a visual representation of the workflow that updates in real-time. For more information, see About the Workflow Monitor.

Enabling Ignition on your organization

Important

To be able to use the Ignition feature, you must first enable the Ignition toggle in the Feature Flags section on the Presets tab of the organization settings. Please note that only system administrators will have access to this toggle.

To enable the Ignition feature:

  1. Open the organization settings.
  2. Navigate to the Presets tab.
  3. Enable the Ignition toggle under the Feature Flags section. The Ignition toggle

Once the toggle is enabled, all media item Ingest processes use Ignition as the workflow engine, instead of the legacy workflows.
